JOB DESCRIPTION:

BPR is looking for a Public Relations Intern with exceptional organizational/communication skills who will thrive in a creative and fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ONGOING TRAINING:

  • Researching media contacts and updating BPR’s media list

  • Media monitoring and clipping

  • Updating coverage reports

  • Drafting pitches

  • Participating in media events both virtual and in-person (once permitted)

  • Writing monthly blog posts

  • Client research and development

  • Assisting in administrative tasks

  • Coordinating product mail outs

  • Assembly of media kits

  • Monitoring the tasks and schedules of several people

  • Available to work evenings and weekends when necessary

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recently graduated from or currently enrolled in a program in public relations or a related discipline

  • Previous internship experience is a bonus, especially if in a food-related industry

  • Knowledge of major food and lifestyle media and social media throughout Canada

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to articulate in a clear, concise and compelling manner

  • Extremely organized with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with very tight deadlines

  • Incumbent must have the capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Extremely proactive with the ability to provide prompt follow-through on projects

  • An organized self-starter capable of working alone or in groups

  • Ability to accept specific direction, with an outstanding work ethic

  • A natural problem solver

  • Solid knowledge of Mail Chimp, Cision or other database programs

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (ideally CS6), Hootsuite, as well as all social media platforms

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is assumed

  • Bilingual English/French an asset

 

Success in this role will be measured by the intern’s multi-tasking proficiencies, ability to work as part of a team, administrative skills and level of enthusiasm. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report directly to the Account Manager

  • Work directly with the Account Manager to complete tasks, ensure PR plans stay on track, and achieve desired success

  • Generate press coverage for BPR’s clients’ programming, as assigned

  • Write, edit and circulate press releases, media information packages, and other communications materials

  • Monitor and manage all social media initiatives for BPR and its clients

  • Update the BPR Inc. blog as scheduled

  • Locate and track all media mentions and file accordingly

  • Prepare accurate, thorough and timely publicity reports and post-mortem reports for internal and external audiences

  • Available to work evenings and weekends when necessary

  • Ongoing monitoring and organization of contact database

  • 30%+ administrative tasks/organization

  • Administer the highest level of quality in all work

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years experience working in public relations

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in communications, journalism or a public relations-related discipline

  • Agency experience a must (boutique or corporate). Previous experience in a food-related industry a bonus

  • Knowledge of major food and lifestyle media throughout Canada

  • Experience in and proven understanding and successes in media relations

  • Capable of demonstrating strong diplomatic and critical listening skills as well as superior analytical and reasoning skills

  • Superior verbal and written communications skills with the ability to articulate in a clear, concise and compelling manner

  • Extremely organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with very tight deadlines

  • Incumbent must have the capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Intuition for interpersonal relationships and relationship building

ACCOUNT SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY:

You have 2+ years of experience in public relations related to food and lifestyle-related clients in an agency setting, a proven track record in helping win, retain and grow new accounts, managing client portfolios and motivating a team. You also thrive in designing and delivering fabulous PR campaigns that make a real impact and garner amazing results. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report directly to the Account Manager of Public Relations

  • Play a leading role in managing the planning, development, implementation, and execution of the public relations and communications programs that are created for our clients

  • Create thorough, well-thought-out, creative public relations and event plans for clients

  • Assign, supervise, and review the activities of the BPR team

  • Create, edit, deploy, and pitch press releases

  • Take the lead in new business acquisitions; research, creating pitches, proposals, and budgets.

  • Build and expand upon relationships with members of the media, continually positioning BPR clients as top-of-mind
